Moose Jaw Moms: Check out The Bebe Bump Maternity!

24 Jul

When David, Tatum and I moved back to Moose Jaw from Edmonton, I somewhat mourned the loss of having a huge selection of shopping that was only a short drive away. I resigned to the fact that I would either have to do most of my shopping online or suck it up and go to one of the generic stores like WalMart or Superstore. Imagine my surprise when someone mentioned to me that there was a really great maternity store in town that also had a great selection of toys, books, clothes (for both mom & baby), nursing gear and more!

Needless to say, I’ve been doing about 80% of my shopping for gifts and toys for any infants/toddlers/big kids or expectant mamas at The Bebe Bump (check out the Facebook page here) for about two years now. Breann Cole, the owner and operator of The Bebe Bump, has clearly worked hard to create an atmosphere where you can relax (there’s a section with toys and a TV just for your little ones to hang out and play!) and enjoy shopping for high quality and fashionable maternity clothes (without the hefty price tag), super-cute toys and pretty much anything an expectant, new, or seasoned mom (and dad) could need.

One of the things I love about Breann’s store is that you feel at home when you walk in. She’s the kind of store owner that will remember you and your kids the next time you come in. She takes the time to show you her products but still gives you room to browse and shop without feeling pressured into buying anything…although most of the time when I go in she doesn’t really have to do anything to get a sale out of me.

Beyond the great customer service and atmosphere of her store, the brands that she carries are well worth heading down to check them out. Here are some of my favourite brands she carries:

Melissa & Doug - a great line of wooden kids toys, clothes, kids luggage, and tons more. One of my all-time favourite brands. We included their wooden food play set in our most recent giveaway!

HOTmilk Lingere – a line of gorgeous maternity and post-partum lingerie and nursing bras. So pretty!

Prince Lionheart – really cool line of baby gear including potties, booster seats, Slumber Bear, bottles and a ton more.

Earth Mama Angel Baby – A beautiful line of USDA Certified Organic bath & body products including body butter (good for growing bellies!), baby wash and lotion, teas to help with the production of breast milk, and many more great gifts an expectant or new mother would love.

Usborne books – Awesome line of kids books ranging from books to read to your babies (sensory touch & feel) all the way up to children that are learning to read. Tatum has a few of the books and she really enjoys them.

Not only does she carry these great brands and many more in her store, there’s always cool hand-knit hats and baby apparel, amber & hazelwood necklaces, wraps and slings and a great array of unique gifts in every corner of her store. If you’re in Moose Jaw (or the surrounding area) you NEED to check out The Bebe Bump!

    Hi Girls!

    First of all, congratulations on your 100th post. I absolutely love this blog. It’s so well researched, green, healthy, and REAL. Keep up the tremendous work. and on that note…I need your help.
    I have a question…
    Luka is 8 months old and we still have him in a crib in our room. I nurse him and he usually gets up to nurse 2 times a night (more out of habit I’m sure). He does have a nursery too with his other crib. A crib he just plays in. Doesn’t nap in either one well. He naps in his baby swing or our bed. I’d like him to nap in his crib and to sleep through the night. People have suggested the “cry it out” method. We tried it once last week and it didn’t do any of us good. What can you suggest?

      I’m definitely not the right person to ask, since Tatum had sleep issues for quite a while. My strategy was to wait it out — I don’t believe in crying it out (I’m on my phone right now but I can message you some links backing this up if you like!) and we co-sleep. She still falls asleep in our bed, but we move her to her own bed and she sleeps in it until morning. Is there any reason (besides being sleep-deprived, haha!) that you want him to sleep in his crib? Have you ever considered co-sleeping at all? I’m suggesting these things because it’s really all I know. We have a post we did about co-sleeping that might be helpful. I’ve heard that the No Cry Sleep Solution book is helpful if you’re set on him sleeping on his own, so that might be worth a shot! I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help! I know it’s common for babies to wake up to nurse throughout the night for quite some time, so I don’t think it’s anything out of the norm. I truly don’t believe in crying it out though, for a number of reasons, so I can definitely hop on the computer and shoot you a few links regarding the subject on Facebook! {F}

    Thank you so much for the helpful, speedy and informative reply. Luka does co-sleep with us. He starts out in his crib. Which is nice, since it allows us to catch up on life before we go to bed. He wakes around 1230-1:30am to nurse, then back to sleep usually until 4:00ish for another feed. Usually at that time he comes to our bed. He sleeps pretty well until 730 – 830am.
    It’s reassuring to hear your experience, Franki. I thought maybe we were “spoiling him” or “creating a bigger problem” by letting Luka sleep with us or nap in any other place but his crib. People are shocked or concerned to hear that he doesn’t sleep through the night or that I’m still nursing him at night or that he co-sleeps. But I think we have a pretty clam and confident baby because of it.
    Thanks for the links. I’m going through them today.

      No problem! Everybody does things differently, but I really don’t believe you can spoil them by being a nurturing parent. They eventually will choose to sleep on their own. Tatum still sneaks in bed with us from time to time, but before we know it she will outgrow it. Hope the links can help you! A lot of people are just trained to think that certain things are “spoiling” but in reality it’s just being a nurturing parent. Good luck!! :) {F}
