Quick, Easy, Cheap Chocolate Croissant Recipe

26 Jul

Taylor and I met up with our good friends Lottie and Minette and walked over to one of Eugene’s best bakeries, The Sweet Life. Now most of the time, I like to eat healthy…but every once in a while you need to be able to treat yourself! Especially at Sweet Life where they have rows upon rows of delicious treats (not to mention, mouth-watering chocolate ganache cakes!). The one that really caught my eye was their beautiful looking chocolate croissants. Ever since I downed one of their croissants, I’ve been craving another. Of course, being the budget conscience mom that I am, I’m not able to pop over to Sweet Life as often as I’d like (everyday would be great!). Remembering back to my childhood, my mom and I loved to eat one as a special morning treat. I learned a quick recipe for them at a summer school class in elementary school, so while these aren’t as delicious as Sweet Life’s, they help me between fixes ;)

Below is the recipe:

1) I started with Trader Joe’s crescent rolls and a handful of Hershey’s Kisses (not the best chocolate, but it’ll do for now)

You can also use nutella/jams/nuts/anything for the middle :)

2) Lay out the triangles on a greased cookie sheet.

3) Place the chocolate in the center of the triangle.

4) Roll up the triangles and pop in the oven according to the instructions on the crescent package.

And you’re done! You can also dress up the ending product with chocolate drizzle/almond slices/etc.

I would have a picture of my final product….but I may have burnt them, oops…

i am going to revisit this post soon. i LOVE chocolate croissants and so does my hubby. it’ll be great to make it from scratch. i’m on a wheat and dairy free diet for the moment while nursing my son (he’s got allergies) but in a couple months, when i’m done breastfeeding, this will be one of the first things i devour! :)
